Obituary of Elsie C Lowell
Elsie Cornell Lowell, 104 of Gerry passed away June 16, 2022 at Heritage Village. She was
born in Elmira, NY on January 7, 1918 to Horace M. and Clara Hamilton Cornell. She graduated from Horseheads High School and Elmira Business Institute. On May 28, 1938, she married Charles A. Lowell Jr. of Cortland, NY. They were married for 45 years.
Charles retired as a design engineer for RCA, Findlay, Ohio. He passed in 1983. Also preceding Elsie in death were her granddaughter, Keighley Malone Fassett; Elsie's sisters, Leah Owen, Crystal Britt, Vina Coleman; and her brothers, Nathan, Paul, Joseph, and Benjamin Cornell.
Elsie is survived by her children, Nancy Fassett (Thom) of Hector, NY; Dr. Charles Lowell (Susan) of Canandaigua, NY; Peter Lowell (Linda) of Churchville, NY; and Rev. Benjamin Lowell (Judy) of VanBuren, OH. Her grandchildren, Kimberly Fassett Gutchess (Gary) of Boca Raton, FL; Andrew Lowell (Kristin) of Cortland, NY; Charlie Lowell (Sonja) of Franklin, TN; John Lowell of Port St. Lucie, FL; Molly Heitkamp of Findlay, OH; Abby Yates of Findlay, OH; Greg Lowell (Emily) of Cleveland, OH; Amy Lowell of Nashville, TN; Brian Lowell of Nashville, TN; and Katie Cobstill (Scoty) of Churchville, NY. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Asher, Micah, Finn, Ethan, Alden, Anderson, Grace, Weston, Ben, Paige, Paxton, Beatrix, and Levi …and many loving nieces and nephews.
Elsie’s employment included Syracuse China and Bell Telephone. She was an early active member of The Free Methodist Church (Susquehanna Conference). In Findlay (OH), Elsie served on various commissions for St. Andrews United Methodist Church, The Salvation Army, and The Republican Women’s Club. She was an avid golfer.
She came to “Gerry Homes” in 1994 from Rochester (NY) where she was involved in Pearce Memorial Church and Genesee Valley Women’s Golf Association. Elsie enjoyed traveling to Alaska and several European countries. At Gerry, she enjoyed volunteering in the library and the nursing home. She belonged to The FM Church and the Gerry Rodeo Seniors. Many winters were spent at The Light and Life Park in Lakeland (FL). A summer highlight was “Keenagers” Lighthouse Christian Camp in Barker (NY).
Elsie’s joyful spirit and contagious sense of humor will be sorely missed. To those who knew her, she left a legacy of faith, hope and LOVE.
