Philip Mark Nickerson71 of Ellington, passed away on Monday August 12,2024 at UPMC Chautauqua, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born July 23rd, 1953 in Westfield a son of the late Edward and Evelyn Maring Nickerson. He was a 1971 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School, and grew up in Towerville NY on the family dairy farm.
Phil had a love for animals and spent many years on the Ronald Ball Dairy Farm in Falconer as his right-hand man. He left farming to work for Stillwater Feed in Jamestown then later at the Randolph location for several years before retiring. He had a love for horseback riding as well as collecting old tractors and milk bottles. He was a member of the Chautauqua County Trail riders where he spent many years taking care of the grounds and riding the trails.
He is survived by his best friend, and riding partner of 24 years Anne Lynch whom he shared a home. Father of Traci (Brad) Spencer, Joy (Kevin) Parker of Ellington, NY, Bridgett Eddy of West Seneca NY, Nicole Nickerson of Frewsburg, NY, and Amanda (Jordan) Streeter of Moretown Vermont. He has 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Brother to RuthAnn (Patrick) Heath, Cliff Nickerson, Lex Nickerson, Greg (Sue) Nickerson, Ronald (Debbie)Nickerson, Gary (Debbie)Nickerson, Lynn (Jeannie)Nickerson, and Clayton Nickerson, several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Darwin, Paul, Lewis, and Clint Nickerson, a sister Rhonda Hawkins as well as two great grandchildren, Carlee Shelters and Max Gallivan.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for September 22nd, 2024 from 1pm -4pm to at the Chautauqua County Trail Riders Grounds on Gerry-Levant Road Falconer.
Memorials in Phil’s name can be made to the Ellington VFD or Chautauqua County Trailriders, Visiting Nurse Association, or Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.
