Obituary of Roger L Zahm

Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roger L. Zahm, 64 of Sinclairville, formerly of Gerry, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at home after a hard-fought and courageous battle with cancer. The son of the late David Zahm and Joyce Durfee Walker, he was born Jan. 4, 1960 in Gowanda, and attended Cassadaga Valley Central School. Roger was employed for over 30 years with the Town of Gerry Highway Department, and for over 20 years with Tri-James Services, Inc. He was a life-time member of the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department. He also had been active with the Lake Effect Trail Breakers Snowmobile Club serving for many years as a trail groomer. Roger loved the outdoors; he occupied his time boating, jet skiing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, camping, fishing, hunting, and pushin’ dirt. He loved attending his grandchildren's various school activities – namely concerts, musicals, dance recitals, and sporting events, where you might have seen him waving his giant foam #1 finger. When his boys were young he coached their baseball teams, and he also loved going and listening to his son Randy sing and play the guitar. Some of his best times were spent with family and friends on various trips to Disney World, Nashville, West Virginia, Myrtle Beach, and on several cruises. He always kept busy working or puttering in the garage. For many years, he and his wife Julie have enjoyed spending much of their summers at Onoville; camping and boating on the reservoir was something he looked forward to every year. He loved sitting around the campfire – swapping stories, laughing, and just enjoying time with his close friends and family. Husband of 46 years to Julie Anderson Zahm, who he married Feb 16, 1978; father of Ryan (Misty) and Randy (Christina) Zahm; grandfather of Grace and Grant Zahm all of Sinclairville; brother of Richard (Sally) Zahm, Jerry (Larry) Marsh, and Jill Zahm. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Jon (Kelly) Anderson of Mayville; several nieces and nephews, including his goddaughter, Olivia Anderson, and godson, Christian Anderson, who held a very special place in his heart. A celebration of Roger's life is being planned for this summer and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Memorial donations may be made to the Gerry or Sinclairville Volunteer Fire Departments, or Hospice of Chautauqua. Condolences to: jordansinclairville.com
