Phoebe Minckler Forbes, 81 of Frewsburg passed away March 6, 2024, at Heritage Green in Greenhurst NY. She was born November 8, 1942, in Jamestown NY to W. Earl and Irene Libby Minckler.
After graduating from Cassadaga Valley Central School Phoebe went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia. Before her retirement she was employed in the business office at Jamestown Community College. Phoebe held the office President of the JCC employee’s union for several terms and was a board member of NYSEA for many years.
She was the textile curator at the Fenton Historical Society for over 25 years. She also served as the textile consultant for the Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz museum at its inception. Phoebe was also a member of the Carroll Historical Society as well as holding positions of secretary and treasurer for the AAUW for many years.
Phoebe is survived by her daughter, Daphne (Darrell) Burch of GA, her son, Michael Forbes of Frewsburg, her grandchildren, Hannah and Conner Forbes of Frewsburg, Devin (Aleda) Burch of Fluvanna and Darci (Jean) Hyppolite of FL, and her great grandchildren, Landry and Torrin Burch of Fluvanna.
Besides her parents Phoebe was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Minckler and her granddaughter, Deidra Mae Burch.
Arrangements entrusted to Jordan Funeral Home Sinclairville, NY.
A private burial is to take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Fenton Historical Society or the Carroll Historical Society.
