Obituary of Zoanne D Shields
Please share a memory of Zoanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Zoanne D. Shields, 74, of Sinclairville, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 9, 2024, following a third battle with breast cancer.
A Sinclairville resident all of her life, she was a New Year’s baby born on January 1, 1950, daughter of the late Kenneth Depledge and Elizabeth McChesney.
Zoanne was a 1968 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School where she was a cheerleader. She never lost her school spirit or her love of cheering and sports. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and other school activities and encouraging them to always do their best.
She worked for many years in the high school cafeteria. She found great joy in serving the students and sharing a smile in hopes of brightening someone’s day.
A long-time parishioner of Park Methodist Church, Zoey was involved in many activities and ministries, two of her favorite roles were being in the church nursery rocking and caring for the babies and belonging to the Monday night ladies Bible study.
Zoanne is survived and very much loved by her husband of 54 years, Richard E. Shields, whom she married June 6, 1969; three children: Jennifer (Greg) Stenta, Janel (Kevin) Gleason, and Richard M. Shields; six grandchildren: Meghan Rearick, Mikaela Becker, Justin, Jarett, and Jayden Gleason, and Lily Shields.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life which will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 6pm in the Park Methodist Church, Sinclairville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to: Chautauqua Christian Academy, 200 Hunt Rd, Jamestown, NY 14701 or Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750
