Obituary of Beverly A Higgs

Beverly Ann Atwell Higgs, 91, of Charlotte Center, passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2023 at home. Born December 11, 1931 in Bradford, PA a daughter of the late Leland and Velma Fairbanks Atwell. She was a 1950 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School. Bev was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. She also worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Gay Mark Tire, Cassadaga Valley Central School and at the family business, Higgs' Lumber. She enjoyed gardening, working puzzles, sewing, baking pies and rolls, traveling, especially to Branson, MO, and in earlier years was involved in Civil Defense, square dancing, Charlotte Center Grange, was a long time bookkeeper and contact person for over 50 years for the Charlotte Center Cemetery and also a long time member and involved in numerous ministries of the Charlotte Center United Methodist Church. Wife of 72 years to the late Allan W. Higgs, who she married Dec. 17, 1949 and who died Apr. 3, 2021; mother of David Allan (Sharon), Gary (Roberta), Jeffrey (Ruth) Higgs all of Sinclairville and Sherry (Tom) Noll of Schenectady; grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of 11; sister of, Sandra Gray, Laura Smith, Jim and Dick Atwell and the late Carol Smith, Marge MacIntyre, Bill and Terry Atwell.
