Obituary of Loretta J Livermore

Please share a memory of Loretta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Wednesday, November 22, Loretta Jane Livermore, loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and frog enthusiast, passed away at the ripe old age of 21 (at least that is the only age she ever told us).She was surrounded by family and loved ones. Rhett, as she was affectionately called by those who knew her, held off as long as she could. We personally think she was waiting for the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl. She was a kind-hearted woman; loving mother and grandmother, who spoiled her grandchildren and great grandchildren at every opportunity. Loretta was born to Dermoth and Opal Sisho Livermore Hotchkiss in Ackley, PA, on September 14th, 1935 (or at least that is what we think). She was one of 13 siblings where she took on the role of big “sis” to all. We thought that she would outlive us all, it was probably the coffee running through her veins. Rhett was a tough broad, especially her feet, you would rarely find her in shoes, even while driving. She loved putting the pedal to the medal, the speeding tickets can testify to that. In fact, the quote on her license plate said, “Get in, sit down and shut up,” which she made sure to point out to anyone brave enough to get in the car with her. Saturday evenings were often spent at State Line Speedway, recalling her glory days as a powderpuff racer. Although we can find no evidence to corroborate that claim. Throughout her life, Loretta always loved being around others. As the owner of Colonial Gardens Restaurant, she is best remembered for her tabletop dancing and her exquisite yodeling (yes yodeling). There was always a pot of coffee ready for anyone who might stop by for some porch conversation, and she had opened arms to anyone in need. Rhett leaves behind a dysfunctional family that she was always extremely proud of, and the man of her dreams, Dale Earnhart Jr. She will be sorely missed and is survived by the father of her children and lifelong friend, Clyde James of Lakewood, her brother, Sherwood Livermore of Randolph, her children, Randy (Amy) James of Sharon, PA, Cindy (Mark) Thompson of Kennedy, Kris (Ruth) James of Jamestown, and Tina (Jamie) Adams of Ashville. Loretta has 11 grandchildren, Kristie (Kosta) Greenstein, Rod (Rigel) Gillis, Jamie (Mike) Kruger, Ashley James Randolph, Andy James, Leanne (Travis) Hughes, Jonathan (Jenna) James, Jason James, Matthew Williams, Valerie (Zach) Emmick, and Caylea Adams. Loretta is also survived by 18 astounding great grandchildren. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She had also took in anyone in need a family and she has accepted as her own, along with a whole bunch of frog statues. Seriously, we have no idea what we are going to do with them all. Loretta is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Charles (Lefty) Livermore, David Livermore, Perry (Lee) Livermore, Frank Livermore, James (Jim) Livermore, Howard Livermore, Gordon Livermore, Catherine Gens, Judy Tanner, Joyce Livermore, and John Livermore. We imagine she is enjoying a pot of coffee and catching up with everyone. She is at peace now, probably, in her birthday suit. Visitation 1 p.m. Saturday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville with the funeral service commencing at 3 p.m. Burial in Valley View Cemetery, Ellington. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care and/or the Alzheimer’s Association.
