Obituary of Alfred J Swanson

Alfred J. Swanson, 91, of Gerry, NY, passed away at home on Thursday, March 2, 2023, with his family at his side. Al was born on January 13, 1932. He was the last of 14 siblings whose parents were the late Gus and Jennie Swanson. Prior to retirement Al had worked for many years at Dahlstrom Manufacturing. After retirement he and his late wife Shirley owned and operated Bonesy’s Bar and Restaurant in Falconer for several years. Surviving are his sons John (Caroline) Swanson and Timothy Swanson, grandchildren Christopher Swanson, Travis Swanson, Penny Blake, Christopher Swanson Jr., Randee Greco (Al), Jennifer Thompson (John), as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his beloved dog Buddy and his grand-dog Valerie. Al was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Burch Swanson, who passed away on May 26, 2015, his daughter Cynthia Swanson, his step-daughter Cheryl Church and his daughter-in-law Lynn Swanson. His 13 brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. In his younger years Al enjoyed making and baking bread. He made the best yeast rolls ever! After retirement he also enjoyed wood working and made many beautiful gifts for family members. He loved the Buffalo Bills and football in general as well as watching Western movies and television shows. He also loved spending time with family. Al had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cracking up his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
