William B. "Wild Bill" Frost, 93 of Sinclairville, passed away peacefully, Friday, Jan 27, 2023 at home.
Born Oct. 22, 1929 in Arkwright the son of the late George and Inez Chase Frost.
He served from 1951-1953 in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Bill was a self employed farmer for 40 years on the farm he purchased in 1953 with his wife of 27 years, Barbara Reynolds Frost. In the early years they operated a Horseback Riding Stable. He and Barb started Bill's Gun and Saddle Shop in 1963. They also formed the Town and Country Four Band. Music was a very large part of their lives. They enjoyed a wonderful life together until her long illness and early death in 1980. Bills Gun and Saddle Shop was open for 60 years.
He was a professional guitar player for 78 years. He never totally retired.
In 1953 Bill also joined the Chautauqua County Mounted Sheriff's Division and remained active for 54 years.
He was the well known Sinclairville cowboy, rope and gun spinner, who with "The Wild Bunch" presented wild west shows for over 30 years in his "Bill's Old West Town" and also established the "Old West Museum".
As a guitar player he was known as the "Chord Man" and had played with the Red River Ramblers, Twilight Rangers, Town and Country Four, Big River and Mountain Railroad bands.
All of this while raising a family of three.
Bill was a member of the Ellington Community Church, Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post 1280, NRA, Wild West Arts Club, National Bit and Spur Assn., Single Action Shooters Assn. the former David Vern Luce VFW Post and founding member of the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Assn.
For fun he also enjoyed trail riding his horses all around Western New York and Pennsylvania. Even taking them to the Adirondacks and East Corinth, VT. Bill and his wife Lucile traveled in their truck camper and more recently their motor home around the west, up to Alaska and south to visit family and friends.
He also enjoyed cutting and stacking wood up through his 92nd birthday, collecting items, which included, but not limited to, old west turn of the century saddles, coins, guns, guitars and belt buckles. He was a man of many hobbies.
Bill was known by many and definitely no stranger to hard work.
Husband of 42 years to Lucile Colburn Frost who he was introduced to through mutual friends and married Oct. 25, 1980 and the late Barb Frost; father of, Cathy (Leroy) Parker of Dewittville, William J. of Mayville and Steven (Ashley) Frost of Sinclairville; step-father of, LouAnn (Mark) Minton of Wagener, SC and the Late Roger Clark; grandfather of Kevin (Kristin) and Roger Parker, Cody, Jacob and Perian Frost; step-grandfather of, Andrew (Toni) Smith and Autumn Rublee; great-grandfather of 10, including the late Haley Ann Smith and also survived by a great great-grandchild. Brother of the late Ruth (late Joe) Swica. Also survived by nieces, nephews and step-daughter in law Jaymi Clark of MI.
Visitation 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday in Park United Methodist Church, 49 Sinclair Dr., Sinclairville. Military honors provided by Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.
