Shirley Ann Carlson Thorp, 93 of Cassadaga, passed away peacefully to her eternal home, Sunday, October 9, 2022 with her loving Family by her side.
Born April 5, 1929 in Jamestown a daughter of the late Oscar and Frances Lindberg Carlson. She shared a birthday with her late husband Wally (1928) and their great great-grandson Colt Mason Hughes (2018).
Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Bemus Point High School.
She was employee in the business field and was Thorp Plumbing's book keeper for as long as Wally was in business.
Her life's passion was to be a good mother. Shirley was involved in Home Bureau and involved herself in many crafts , most of which she gave as gifts. She was a member of the Stockton Community Church participating in various ministries including as a Sunday School Teacher and church secretary for many years. Shirley loved roller and ice skating and was often seen shoveling snow off Cassadaga Lake to ice skate.
Wife of 74 years and 11 months to Wallace Donald "Wally" Thorp who she married Nov. 16, 1947 and who died Aug. 10, 2022; mother of Danny T. (Kathy) Thorp, Peggy Sue (Rick) Reslink and the late Donald Wallace Thorp; mother in law of Joy Thorp; grandmother of Jason (Barb) and Joel (Kelly) Thorp all of IA, Mindy Yoder of FL, Jacob (Michelle) Thorp of SC, Heidi Walker, Heather (Jack) Newman and Sarah (Chris) Pietsch all of PA and Susan Reslink of VA.; great-grandmother of, Aaron (Mara), Caleb (Brennah), Chloe, Emma, Allie, Elijah, Joshua, Annabelle, Camille, Juliet, Travis, Joey, Jacob, Amanda, Will, Andrew, Lily and Josalynn and the late Luke; great great-grandmother of, Colt, Neveah and Everest. Wally and Shirley's children and grandchildren are involved in many professions, engineer, electrician, plumber, water safety instructor, medial field, lawyer, teachers, librarian, postal worker, contractors, horse trainer, artist, photographer, singers and actresses.
Sister of Lanny (Candy) Carlson and the late Wallace (Mary Jane) Carlson. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Stockton Community Church with a luncheon to follow. Private burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton.
