It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Linda D. Tanner Briggs, at the age of 73, on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Linda was a lifelong resident of Stockton. Born in Jamestown on July 5, 1949 a daughter of the late Byron and Marilyn Huth Tanner. Wife of the late William E. Briggs, who she married August 23, 1997, and who died May 2, 2021. Linda was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School, class of 1967. She had formerly been employed as a bartender at the Cassadaga American Legion, Frawley’s Tavern, and the Stockton Hotel. She unselfishly became a home health care aid to many friends and family. Linda was a passionate gardner and a meticulous housekeeper keeping “her view’ just the way that she wanted it. Linda was a generous volunteer with many local organizations donating tremendous amounts of time and “bull work”. Her memberships included Fredonia Beaver Club, Dunkirk Moose, SCORE and Stockton Cemetery Association. Linda will be remembered for her incredible baking skills but most notable, her chocolate and peanut butter fudge. Linda will be deeply missed by her children; Kerry Anderson of Jamestown; Danna Rae (Andy Hastings) DuBois of Cassadaga; Jan (Steve) Bittinger of Sherman; Wanda (Tim) Ferguson of Suffolk, VA, Reggie (Deb) Fox of Port Charlotte, FL and Lee Jay (Diane) Fox of Bradenton, FL; Also deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren Sydney Anderson, Abbey DuBois, Megan (Sam) Saunders, Erin Ferguson, Hunter (Belle), Joey and Jada Bittinger, and Christopher (Beth) Fox, and Crystal Fox; and a great-grandmother of Penelope Castaneda; She was the sister of Cynthia (George) Rendell of Stockton and the late Brian Tanner. Also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews. Linda also leaves behind her dog and best friend Maci and her cats Brown, Sandy, and Billy Jean.
