Obituary of Marjorie Lois Scott

Marjorie Lois Harper Scott, 99, of Sinclairville passed away peacefully, Sept. 10, 2022 at home with her family by her side. Born Oct. 10, 1922 in Charlotte Center she is the daughter of the late Fred and Lois Penhollow Harper. Marg was a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County and a member of the first graduating class of Cassadaga Valley Central School in 1940. She, with her husband created and managed the family dairy farm while also working at Cassadaga Valley Central High School for over 30 years providing meals for students and staff. Her primary focus was serving God and her family and as a self taught musician she was an active member of the Charlotte Center United Methodist Church playing piano and organ for services until the age of 97 years old. Marg was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Stars. She loved cooking, baking and shared her homemade pickles which was a family favorite. Marg was a voracious reader, loved to crochet beautiful gifts for all her loved ones and found peace in nature and gardening and was happiest spending time with family and seldom found without a grandchild in her arms. The epitome of a caregiver, she was always concerned more of others rather than herself. Wife of 50 years to the late Kenneth W. Scott who she married June 18, 1941 and who died June 10, 1991; mother of, Gordon (Sharon) Scott of Bemus Point, William (Marian) Scott of Sinclairville and Cameron (David) Lawton of Cassadaga; grandmother of, David (Kathy) and Ken (Karey) Lawton, Melinda (Stan) Chase, Marcia (Jim) Cirbus, Gordon (Lisa), Craig (Debra), Andy, Kurt (Mischelle), Chris, Josh (Michelle), Lindsay and Tessa (Fiancé' Aaron Portikos) and the late Robin Scott; great-grandmother of 24 and one great great-granddaughter; sister of the late Anna Morley and Henry Harper, Sr.; mother in law of the late Betty Jo Scott. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation 5-9 p.m. Tuesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
