Bruce Ferry, 68 of Lake View, formerly of Cassadaga, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at Roswell Park after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Born January 1,1954 in Dunkirk a son of Howard Ferry of Fredonia and the late Doris Schrader Ferry.
He was a 1972 graduate of Fredonia High School and 1974 graduate of Alfred State with an Associates Degree in Agri-Business and was a member of the Psi Delta Omega fraternity.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1976-1980 serving in law enforcement and as an investigator.
Bruce was employed with his father at Mc-Al-Lee Farms from his childhood and then after returning from proudly serving his country.
After receiving his B.S. in accounting, with honors, from SUNY Fredonia in 1996 he interned with Johnson and Mackowiak and then was hired full time. Bruce then was employed in the financial department by the Seneca Nation Housing Authority and in 2012 went to work with the Defense Contract Audit Agency as an auditor retiring in 2021.
Bruce was a history buff, a "Jack of All Trades" and built their home in Cassadaga from the foundation up. He could fix or repair anything. He was honest, open and would give you his heart felt opinion on any situation. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather (Papa). He was the glue to the family.
Devoted husband of 47 years to Anne Jakubowski Ferry who he married July 26, 1975; loving father of Nathan (Lovelyn) Ferry of Navarre, FL, Jordan (Shannon) Ferry of Hamburg, Emalee (Michael) Vail of Cheektowaga and the late Adam Ferry (1983); doting grandfather of Kylie, Madilynn, Keara, Cameron and Jayce Ferry; brother of Michael (Joel) Ferry of FL and Christine (Jim) Decker of Fredonia; brother in law of Carol Jakubowski, Mary (Chuck) Riker-Thomas and Coleen Gaines. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville where funeral services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Private burial in Laona Cemetery.
