Obituary of Joan L Ulrich
Joan “Joanie” Lehnen Ulrich, 86, a lifelong resident of Cassadaga until a move to Absolut of Westfield in 2012. Joan passed away Friday, March 18th, due to complications from Lewy Body Dementia. She was born December 28th, 1935, in Cassadaga, NY. The daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Tibbetts) Lehnen.
Joan married the love of her life, Norman W. Ulrich, Sr., on January 12th, 1957, until his passing in 2003.
Joan was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond and Jerome Lehnen, and her sisters Shirley Jones, Marlene Marsh, and Norvale Martin-Gane.
She is survived by her children, Norman (Reanie) Ulrich Jr. of Clymer and Melissa (Ed) Tofil of Westfield. Grandchildren, Nathan Ulrich of Amherst, Sarah (Jason) Dibble of Clymer, Laura (Jason) Kohtz of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jordan (Ashley) Imm also of Colorado Springs. As well as, great-grandchildren, Max and Callia Dibble, and Harmon Imm.
Joan had been employed as a waitress, seed-packer, and college bookstore clerk. She used to volunteer for polling sites and was a PTA member. She belonged to the Stitch ‘N Chatter Home Bureau.
Never one to sit still, she will be remembered for her love of cooking, baking, gardening, decorating, crafting, and sewing. Joan always had music playing and enjoyed singing and dancing. She loved a Sunday drive and exploring the US in the conversion van with Norm. Joan was well known for hosting family parties and loved being with her immediate and extended family.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to the healthcare workers at Absolut who thoughtfully provided her care for 10 years.
Visitation will occur on Tuesday, March 22nd from 4-7pm at Jordan Funeral Home in Sinclairville. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 23rd at 11am. Burial to follow at the Cassadaga Cemetery.
