Obituary of June E Clark

June Elvie Clark, nee Wakefield, passed away July 2, 2021, at Heritage Village in Gerry. She was born in 1923 and was the child of Lawrence and Anna Hammond Wakefield of Stockton NY. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Lettie, Elvie, Jennie, Mary Pearl, Mildred, Dorothy, Annie, Bertha, Virginia, and infant brother Lawrence Wakefield, along with half-sisters Betty Thompson and Anna Mae Giesler, and half-brother William Giesler. After graduating high school, she married her sweetheart Robert Harvey Clark of Cassadaga. They settled in Cassadaga and spent most of their 72 married years there. Nine years were spent in Ormond Beach and Pompano Beach Florida. June assisted in running family businesses while raising their two sons. They co-owned Cassadaga Variety Store with Jerry and Lettie Milligan, and when in Florida owned the Estate Lawn Service. After they returned to Cassadaga, they re-purchased the Variety Store and operated it for several more years. June loved singing in the church choir, playing the organ, cooking and caring for her family. She dedicated the majority of her time and energy to caring for their disabled son Douglas at home until she was 91. June was preceded in death by their infant daughter Linda Marie in 1948 and her husband Robert in 2015. She is survived by her sons Dennis (Kearneysville, WV) and Douglas (Lakewood NY), grandson Matthew (Youngstown NY) and great-granddaughter Ella. Funeral service 1 p.m. Wednesday in Riccardi’s Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville with 2 hours of visitation prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m., Burial in Cassadaga Cemetery.
